Weather Details is a visual calendar of the seasonal transformations of Latokaskenniitty, a historically cultivated landscape between Latokaski and Nöykkiö in Espoo, Southern Finland. Located near my former home, the area became my art studio in nature — an accessible landscape I could return to each week. Over three years of slow photo-walks, I used macro photography to observe how weather and seasonal change transform its meadows, vegetation, woodland edges and small-scale life.

Left largely open over time, the landscape has developed into a mosaic of meadows, former fields and woodland edges, supporting a rich variety of flowers, plants and insects. Its ecological value is inseparable from its continuity as an open landscape. Today, the area is planned for development as a sports park. The work therefore becomes a quiet record of what is here now: a landscape whose seemingly ordinary details reveal how much life can exist when a place is simply allowed to remain.

At the intersection of photography and ecology, this project becomes an archive of Latokaskenniitty and its changing relationship between nature, weather, human use and time.

The current selection below presents preliminary samples from the ongoing study. The project is financially supported by the Espoo Cultural Unit, Finland, and will be published in 2027.
